Univeristy,
Japan. Kyoto University, which is a long-established university in
Japan, is located at the northeast of Kyoto City, so it is
conveniently located in terms of public transportation.
Access to Kyoto Station
There is no major international or domestic airport in Kyoto.
However, Osaka Itami domestic airport (ITM) and Kansai
International Airport (KIX) in Osaka are both within easy reach.
- From Kansai
International Airport (KIX)
- Take JR (Japan Railway) Airport Limited Express Train,
HARUKA, which runs every 30 minutes. The traveling time to
JR Kyoto Station is approximately 75 minutes. The fare is
4,220 yen (first class seat), 3,490 yen (reserved seat),
or 2,980 yen (non-reserved seat).
- Take Airport Limousine Bus departing from Platform
8. Buses run every 30 to 60 minutes between 6:00 and 22:00.
The traveling time to JR Kyoto Station is approximately 100
minutes.
The fare is 2,300 yen.
- From Narita
International Airport (NRT)
- Take domestic flight from NRT to Osaka Itami Airport
(ITM). And then, take Airport Limousine Bus departing from
Platform 14. Buses run every 15 to 20 minutes between 8:00
and 21:00.
The traveling time to JR Kyoto Station is approximately 60
minutes. The fare is 1,280 yen.
However, the flights from NRT to ITM are limited.
- Take Airport Limousine Bus from NRT to Tokyo Haneda
Airport (HND). Buses run every 10 to 60 minutes between
6:00 and 22:00. The traveling time to HND is approximately
100 minutes. The fare is 3,000 yen. Then, take domestic
flight from HND to ITM, and take Airport Limousine Bus
to JR Kyoto Station.
- Take JR (Japan Railway) Airport Limited Express Train,
NARITA EXPRESS, which runs every 30 minutes. The traveling
time to JR Tokyo Station is approximately 60 minutes. The
fare is 4,430 yen (first class seat), or 2,940 yen
(reserved seat). Then, take Shinkansen (bullet train) from
JR Tokyo Station to JR Kyoto Station. The traveling time
to JR Kyoto Station is approximately 150 minutes taking
the NOZOMI Super Express. The fare is 18,160 yen (first class
seat), 13,520 yen (reserved seat), or 12,710 yen
(non-reserved seat).
- From Osaka Itami Airport (ITM)
- Take Airport Limousine Bus departing from Platform
14. Buses run every 15 to 20 minutes between 8:00 and
21:00. The traveling time to JR Kyoto Station is approximately
60 minutes. The fare is 1,280 yen.
Participants from foreign countries can purchase JAPAN RAIL
PASS, which is a special discount pass for any trains of
JR Group Railways (except the NOZOMI Super Express).
JAPAN RAIL PASS is sold only outside of Japan: Must be purchased
before arriving in Japan.

Access to Kyoto Univeristy
Kyoto University consists of three campuses: Yoshida, Uji, and
Katsura, as well as a number of facilities located across Japan.
Shiran Kaikan is located at Medicine campus in Yoshida
campus.
Kyoto University can be accessed from some stations of JR,
Kyoto-metro (underground railway), Keihan line, Hankyu line, bus
stops of Airport limousines.
- From JR ``Kyoto'' station
- Take the Kyoto City bus, line #206 and get off at
``Kyoudai Seimon Mae''
- Take the Kyoto City bus, line #17 and get off at
``Hyakumanben''
- Take Kyoto-metro Karasuma-line and get off at
``Imadegawa'' Station, then transfer to the Kyoto City bus
and get off at ``Kyoudai Seimon Mae''
Shiran Kaikan is within a walking distance from these bus
stops.
- From Hankyu ``Kawaramachi'' station
- Take the Kyoto City bus, line #201 or #31 and get off at
``Kyoudai Seimon Mae''
- Take the Kyoto City bus, line #17 and get off at
``Hyakumanben''
Shiran Kaikan is within a walking distance from these bus
